Ron Dodge joined Airport Luggage in 1970, after completing an Industrial Engineering degree at Melbourne University. Ron’s early focus was on moving manufacturing off-shore, as he recognised the ever-increasing local costs would eventually make it cost prohibitive to manufacture out of the Richmond site. Not long after sourcing a suitable overseas manufacturer, Ron acquired the rights to distribute several well-known international brands throughout Australia including Fila, Slazenger, and Samsonite. Eventually, Samsonite and Airport Luggage formed a JV, with Ron becoming the Chairman of Samsonite Australia. Ron sold his shares in the company back to Samsonite in 2017.
In 1982 Ron founded Spartan School Supplies Pty Ltd in partnership with Tony Hunter. The Dodge Family now has total ownership of this business, becoming Australia’s leading supplier of school bags, accessories and primary school clothing.
Ron has always been fascinated with the construction business. In 1995, he formally started Point Property Group. He was soon facilitating the purchase and development of property throughout Australia. Since then, Point Property Group has developed a wide array of projects in every segment of the real estate market.
